Dr. Bobby Nevils

Dr. Bobby Nevils, 85, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away on April 10, 2024, peacefully at home. He was born on Aug. 5, 1938, to Henry Nevils and Ellen Fontenot. Bobby was a dedicated, creative, and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Linda Nevils; his children, Julia Hebert (Keith) of New Iberia, Mark Nevils (Nelly) of Columbia, S.C., and Rachael Kinney (Tim) of Carlyss; his brother, Jerry Nevils (Gail) of Kinder; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Bobby proudly served in the United States Navy for a combination of 22 years, achieving the rank of Captain.
He had a distinguished career in the medical field, including a Medical Internship and Residency with the United States Naval Corp, Private Medical Practice in Kinder, Louisiana and Allen Parish Hospital, and work for LSU Health System at University Medical Center in Lafayette.
In his free time, Bobby enjoyed playing the piano, drawing and oil painting, and writing. He will be remembered for his passion for the arts. Upon his retirement his grandchildren asked “Pawpaw, how many babies do you think you’ve delivered in your career?” His response, “Thousands of babies.”
Funeral services will be held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 315 N 14th Street, Kinder, La.
Visitation will take place on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. to be held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Barrett officiating. Burial will be at Kinder McRill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dr. Bobby Nevils can be made to the Allen Healthcare Foundation or Camp Pearl.
