Carol Ann McClure

Carol Ann McClure, 82, a longtime resident of Lake Charles, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, in her apartment at Lake Sherwood Village in Baton Rouge, La. Mrs. McClure was born in Fort Worth, Texas, moving frequently throughout the state in her youth, and lived in Lake Charles, La., for 51 years. She was a graduate of Texas Tech, where she earned a Master of Arts Degree in Spanish. She had a love for language, solving daily word puzzles and translating ancient biblical languages including Latin and Greek. Carol was a member of St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church, where she participated in the choir and crafting circle and volunteered with the Manna Ministries.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Steven McClure and wife, Isabel, of Redmond, Wash., and Scott Michael McClure and wife, Ruth, of Baton Rouge; one granddaughter, Abby McClure; her brother, Lawrence Minor of Midland, Texas; her sister, Kathleen Jones of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law, Gayle Debusk of Houston, Texas, and Laurel Currie of New Braunfels, Texas; and her beloved Jack Russell terrier, Max. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Roland and Mary Carolyn Minor; her husband, Bruce Thatcher McClure; and son, Douglas Andrew McClure.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church, 1500 Country Club Road, Lake Charles, La. Reverend Tracy MacKenzie will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
