The Louisiana Supreme Court has temporarily barred a Lake Charles attorney from practicing law after he was arrested for smuggling weapons, drugs and other contraband into a local state prison.
Jonathan Wayne Brown is accused of sneaking folding knives, marijuana, Oxycodone, synthetic paper and Suboxone inside a package at the Allen Correctional Center near Kinder while meeting with a client.
In its ruling issued, March 14, the Louisiana Supreme Court granted a petition for interim suspension for threat of harm filed against Brown by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel. The suspension is on an interim basis pending further orders of the court.
Brown was arrested last November following an investigation by the Louisiana Department of Corrections, Allen Correctional Center officers and the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office.
