Calvin Joseph Fontenot, 85, of Sulphur, La., passed away on Feb. 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in a local hospital. He is now at peace with our Lord and the love of his life, Betty.

Calvin was born on Oct. 29, 1938, to Russell and Hilda Fontenot in Welsh, La.  and raised by his mother, Hilda and stepfather, Martin Vidrine of Sulphur.  Calvin was a cradle catholic and was very proud to be an alter server as a young boy.  He loved the outdoors fishing, gardening, and flowers. Calvin also loved being around his family and taking care of everyone. He had a great appreciation for carpentry and his very strong work ethic from his childhood that served him and his family. Calvin was a welder and pipefitter at W.R. Grace and company for 32 years. He also served his country in the United States Army and was proud of that humble accomplishment. The memories of crawfishing on the weekends, his children treasured as much as he did.  Also, traveling to Branson and Las Vegas was a memory they all loved!

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Edward James Frazer and wife, Debra, Timothy Martin Fontenot, and Elizabeth Kay Fontenot; four grandchildren, Calvin Jay Jarrell, Heather Annette Sonnier, Jennifer Leann Nall, and Timothy Jor-el Fontenot; great-grandchildren, Dustin, Taylor, Shase, Ty, Atley, and Skyler; and one sister, Barbara and Silton Bergeron.
