Mark R. Schexnailder

Mark R. Schexnailder, 74, of Sulphur, La. passed away on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024. He was born to his late parents, Clyde and Annabel Schexnailder on May 31, 1949 in Lake Charles, La.
He served in the Peace Corps in his early years. Mark was employed by Conoco for 17 years, and has been retired around 19 years. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking, was an avid reader, and enjoyed bird watching and watching his grandchildren fish. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dee Schexnailder; children, Wade Wright (Michele) of Orange, Texas and Deborah Wright Crochet of Carlyss, La.; siblings, Don Schexnailder (Reba) of Sulphur, La., Lynn Leger (Tim) of Sulphur, La., Jill Queen (Ted) of Marshall, Texas, Sandy Schexnailder (Kathy) of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Alexis Chavis, Michael Crochet, Chasity Crochet, and Ava Wright; along with two great-grandchildren, Bella Chavis and Patrick “P-Dub” Chavis, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur, La. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024 at 11 a.m., with Reverend Timothy Goodly officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m., led by Kathryn Black. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until the procession to the church. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Sulphur, La.
