Still unable to put a full game together, the Cowgirls stumbled at the start and then down the stretch in their latest defeat.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi had too much as McNeese State fell for the 14th straight time Saturday.
The Islanders pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 78-64 victory inside the Legacy Center.
Corpus Christi improved to 15-7, 8-3 in the Southland Conference. The Cowgirls dropped to 4-21, 0-12 after losing for the 16th time in their last 17 games.
“I’m proud, we got down early and we could have packed it in and we didn’t,” said McNeese head coach Lynn Kennedy.
Using their best quarter of the season, the Cowgirls rallied from an 11-point deficit to actually grab a halftime lead at 35-33 on freshman Boston Berry’s three-point shot.
McNeese started the second quarter on a 14-1 run.
The Islanders retook the lead by the end of the third 54-50, and then put the game away with a fast burst to start the fourth.
“We have to be able to step up in those big situations,” said Kennedy.
Christina Gil led the way in her second game back from an injured ankle for the Cowgirls. She made 6 of 9 shots from the floor and finished with 15 points.
“She is still trying to get the rust off,” said Kennedy. “She is one of the better players in the league when she’s out there.”
Paige Allen led the Islanders with 18 points while Mireia Aguado added 16.
