Marie Louise Stephanie Menou Burton

Marie Louise “Stephanie” Menou Burton, 82, of Sulphur, La. passed away in a local care facility surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024. Stephanie was a Para-Professional for 20 years at Jack Drost School for Exceptional Children. She loved to garden and had a knack for making plants bloom to their fullest. Stephanie enjoyed staying active throughout her life whether walking, exercising, or just out in the garden. She was well travelled visiting places like the Holy Land with her sisters, Germany to see family, and Egypt with the “Golden Girls.” Stephanie was an eucharistic minister and a Lay Carmelite. She loved cooking and spending time with her family, especially on Sundays and Holidays. Stephanie loved all kids and especially her grandkids, she liked having them over to babysit or for sleepovers. Stephanie was very good at maintaining strong relationships with friends from her childhood, making sure they stayed in touch and active in each other’s lives.
Those left to cherish Stephanie’s memory are her children, Michael Burton, Alicia Burton Alaniz (Juan Jr.), Joseph Burton, Charles J. Burton (AunJelle), and Robert J. Burton (Lynn); 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.
Stephanie is preceded in death by her parents, Roland Bergereau Menou and Marie Louise Privat Menou; husband, Charles D. Burton; brothers, Roland M. Privat , Louis Privat Menou, and Victor Menou; sisters, Joeline Menou Stark, Jeanelle Menou Bailey, and Semone Menou Todd.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South. The family will receive friends at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A recitation of the Rosary will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
