Gloria Marie Perkins Rupp

Gloria Marie Perkins Rupp, 95 passed away Jan. 22, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born in Sulphur, La. and lived there and in Westlake for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Rupp, and her parents, William Mitchell (W.M.) Perkins and Maurina Young Perkins. As a child, Gloria loved riding on the tractor with her father and cooking with her mother. She was a graduate of Sulphur High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur. An avid golfer, she once played on a Championship Level. A former banker, Gloria became a stay-at-home mother to her children, Ronald (Ronnie) Rue of North Point, Ala. and Alece Rue McIntyre, of Lake Charles, La. She is also survived by a brother, William Logan (Buddy) Perkins of Lake Charles.
Gloria will always be remembered for her sweet smile and beautiful green eyes and the “soft spot” she had for the many animals she nurtured throughout the years. Later in life, Gloria became a painter and could paint for hours without boredom. And she loved being “Mammaw” to her grandchildren, Brandon Rue, Nathan Rue, Demetre Atessis, Damian Tellepsen and Joseph McIntyre. She also had 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
