Funeral services for Sandra Gail Britnell, 76, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Chaplain Mike Norsworthy officiating. Interment will follow at Attoyac Cemetery in San Augustine.

Mrs. Britnell was born on Nov. 2, 1947, to  the late Clarence Edmond Britnell and Abbie Edna (Stringer) Britnell, and died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, in Lufkin.

Sandra was born in Nacogdoches, Texas and was of Baptist Faith. After relocating the family lived in Calcasieu Parish, La. where Sandra was educated in Sulphur, La. schools. After graduation in 1965, she was employed at Cameron Telephone Company where she was appointed to the position of secretary to the president/CEO and ultimately as executive assistant. Sandra retired after 45 years in that position and made her home in Lufkin, Texas. She was a kind person who never said cutting remarks towards anyone. Sandra enjoyed taking care of cats and took in stray cats often. She loved traveling, especially to see her brothers. Sandra’s yard was full of flowers, as she loved growing them.

Mrs. Britnell is survived by her brothers, Albert Britnell of Goose Creek, S.C., and Bobby Britnell of Lufkin, Texas; three grandchildren, and onegreat-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lenda Jean Britnell, as well as, a host of aunts, uncles, and many beloved cousins. 

Pallbearers will be Mackie McCary, Stephen Dent, Kenny Modisette, Elizabeth Britnell, Richard McCary, and Roger Wall.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
