UPDATE: Boyfriend charged in death of girlfriend’s son, dog

A 47-year-old Lake Charles man has been arrested in connection with a Monday homicide at a residence off U.S. 90 East.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s deputies said they were notified at 4:30 a.m. of a woman at a local hospital with severe injuries.
During the initial investigation, deputies were told by the woman that her boyfriend, Derik K. Rayborn, 47, killed her son and their dog at the residence. She said she was able to escape the home and seek medical attention.
When deputies arrived at the home, they found Eric Bosley, 26, and dog deceased inside the residence from what appears to be gunshot wounds. Through further investigation detectives say they also learned Rayborn caused the woman’s injuries.
A short time later, deputies located Rayborn at the hospital, while he was attempting to locate the woman. Rayborn was questioned by detectives and then arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is charged with second-degree murder; attempted second-degree murder; domestic abuse serious bodily injury; aggravated cruelty to animals; interfering with emergency communication; possession or carrying of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies; and illegal use of a weapon during a crime of violence.
Judge Clayton Davis set his bond at $2,375,000. The woman remains in the hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, the coroner will determine cause of death.
