LouAnna Fontenot Aymond, 83, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully on Dec. 24, surrounded by her loving family.
Lou was born on April 26, 1940, and was a longtime resident of Lake Charles. She was born in Eunice, La. where she grew up with her immediate and large extended family. She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of multiple local churches over the last several decades.
Lou was the centerpiece of her immediate and extended family. She loved hosting holiday parties and socializing with her friends and family over the years. Lou and her beloved husband, Raphael Aymond, were avid outdoors people, spent many weekends camping with friends and family across the state of Louisiana. She loved visiting with her family and friends, gardening and was proud of her beautiful yard and flowers. Lou was a great cook and always had something for us to eat no matter what the occasion or day of the week.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hillery J. Fontenot and Carrie Richard Fontenot; daughter, Stefnia Aymond Vizinat (John); siblings, Rita Fontenot and Emery Fontenot, and grandchild, Dagan McCulley.
She leaves to honor and cherish her memories her beloved husband of 67 years, Raphael Aymond; siblings, Horace Fontenot, Merlin Fontenot (Berline) and Liz Fontenot; children, Patrick Aymond (Tina) and Rachel Aymond Williamson (James) all of Lake Charles; 13 grandchildren, Johnny McDonald (Lisa), Shana Faulk (Paul), Jacob Vizinat (Sabina), Matthew Williamson, Coralie Vidrine (Jason), Jamie Williamson (Kelsey), Amanda Aymond, Justin Aymond (Joelle), Taylor Aymond, Amanda McBride (Jacob), Joe Lavergne (Michelle), Micheal Hebert and Josh; eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation continues at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Friday, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be observed at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
