Rain chances are expected to increase this evening and remain elevated through Christmas morning.
But the bulk of the rain will be during Christmas Eve, said Marti Calhoun of the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.
“There is a slight risk of excessive rainfall across the region Sunday,” Calhoun said, with 1-3 inches of rain in the forecast.
“The risk for any severe weather still appears minimal at this time,” Calhoun said.
Strong onshore fetch coincident with high tide may result in some coastal flooding concerns, Calhoun said, but a coastal flood watch/advisory has not been issued.
“Also persuant to the strong winds over coastal waters, a small craft advisory has been issued for all waters 0 to 60 nautical miles from tonight through Sunday morning,” Calhoun said.
