Edward Arlen Ball

Edward Arlen Ball was born to Edward and Marie Ball on June 22, 1942 in Lake Charles, where he grew up with his two sisters. He lived a very full 81 years; 60 of those spent married to the love of his life, his honey, his dance partner, Judy; where about 50 of their years together they lived in the Sulphur area. Many a fun memory passed in their little block of the neighborhood in Carlyss, where two of his best friends also lived, and the kids got into shenanigans, creating some hilarious stories and priceless memories. He worked at Citgo for a very long time where he was highly respected and was often referred to as the Great Ed Ball, known for being a man who could chew you out and still make you feel like he was giving you a compliment by the end of it. He was the type of gentleman brimming with wisdom and advice, but wouldn’t share it with you unless you asked for it and went out of his way to take care of and provide for those who needed it most, always ready to lend a handkerchief or shoulder to cry on.

His personality was patient, loving, and kind and his demeanor was dignified and docile. He was happiest when watching old western reruns, reading the paper, cheering for LSU, and, in his more active years, hunting, fishing, golfing, and vacationing with his family and friends.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Theresa Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharist Minister and participated in ACTS. He was also an extremely humble U. S. Army National Guard veteran.
