Carolyn Sue Montgomery Conner, 63, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 in Maysville, Ga. Carolyn was born on Feb. 16, 1960 to the late W.M. “Duck” Montgomery and Alfreda Branson Montgomery in Lake Charles, La.
She was a graduate of Lake Charles High class of 1978, and earned her Batchelor’s and Master’s degree in Education from McNeese State University. She was a kindergarten and first grade teacher for the Calcasieu Parish school system for 26 years, starting at J.I. Watson Elementary then becoming one of the founders of the kindergarten program for Lebleu Settlement Elementary. Upon moving to Georgia in 2021, she has been a second grade teacher at Banks County Elementary for the past three years. She has touched the lives of hundreds of children through the years, and has impacted countless others through her lifetime. She was a woman of deeply rooted faith and conviction, and her family now finds comfort in knowing she walks hand-in-hand with her Heavenly Father. She was an extremely loving, caring, and compassionate person, and an infinitely devoted wife, mother, and grandparent.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick; her son, Austin (Louis) Conner; her daughter, Kate Conner; her grandchildren, Katelyn Leblanc and Branson Leblanc, and her brothers, Mark Montgomery of Commerce, Jimmy Montgomery of Lake Charles, La., Charles Montgomery of Bell City, La. and Buddy Montgomery of Sweet Lake, La.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20 graveside at Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Duane Eller officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
