Helen Sue Kennedy, 75, of Marksville passed away at 10:26 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023 in a local care facility.

Mrs. Kennedy was born on Aug. 28, 1948 in El Dorado, Ark. and moved to Lake Charles in the late 1950’s.  She was a graduate of LaGrange High School and furthered her education at McNeese State University where she received a degree in teaching.  Mrs. Kennedy taught school for more than 40 years in Calcasieu Parish, mostly in Moss Bluff.

She was an avid LSU and Saints fan.

Those left to cherish her memory are a sister, Carla Griffin of Marksville; cousins, Tommy Griffin of El Dorado, Ark., Debbie Loyd of Hot Springs, Ark., Melinda Arnold of New Burn, N.C., and Pat Moore of Naples, Fla.; a daughter at heart, Alaina Garcia of Gonzales, La. and two beloved fur babies, Sadie and Libby. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest H. Kennedy and her parents, Betty and Preston Griffin.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
