William “Billy” R. Walker

William “Billy” R. Walker, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, at the age of 83.
He was born in Lake Charles on Sep. 1, 1940, son of the late William Robert and Ruth (Harrop) Walker. In his younger years, Billy took pride in participating in raising Tennessee Walker horses.
Billy, a vocational agriculture teacher for over 30 years at Hathaway, attended LSU and McNeese State University. He was an advisor for the National FFA organization. He enjoyed tending to cattle, and as a non-licensed vet, he could treat any ailment in his animals. Whether he was showing animals or just attending, Billy was never so happy as being involved with livestock shows. He was so happy to support young people to be involved in agriculture.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Billy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betsie Roberts Walker; daughter, Dawn “Missy” Melissa Walker Falkiner (Bob); sons, William Russell Walker, and Wesley Reed Walker; five grandchildren, Reece Walker, Karli Anne Falkiner, Macie Walker, Adisyn Walker, and Sydni Walker.
A gathering of friends and family will begin Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 3 p.m. until the Celebration of Life service at 6:30 p.m. Cremation will follow under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
