Keeping kids entertained during the holidays can be a daunting task, but the Calcasieu Parish Public Library has plenty of programs up their sleeves to keep them busy over the holidays.
Children in grades 3-5 are invited to the Sulphur Library for an easy and fun STEAM activity!
Using shaving cream, food coloring, and cardstock paper, children will create marbled paper that’s perfect to use as stationary or in creating a unique holiday card.
The STEAM program take place 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Sulphur Library, which is located at 1160 Cypress St.
Due to limited space, registration is required. To sign up, please call the Sulphur Library at 337-721-7138.
Teens and tweens (ages 10+) are invited to participate in another fun STEAM related challenge at the Central Library, located at 301 W. Claude St.
Teen will put their creative skills to the test with a balloon reindeer race!
Participants will decorate a balloon and attach it to a straw that will be threaded on a long string. When ready to race, they will release the balloon which will deflate causing it to race down the line.
The Central program takes place 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13.
Due to limited space, registration is also required for the Central program. To sign up, call the Central Library programming department at 337-721-7117.
Both programs are free and open to the public. A library card is never needed to attend library programming.
