Joseph “Leroy” Richard, age 77, of Iowa, La. passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023. He was born Jan. 16, 1946 in Creole, La. to Garland Richard and Arizona LeBlanc Richard.

Leroy was a lifelong resident of Creole where he was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a construction worker for 40 years, eventually retiring with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over 59 years, Mary Frances Richard; two children, Denise Richard and Gerald Richard; one grandchild, Rachel Boutte; six great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Scarlett, Skyler, Quinton, Lea and Nico; uncle, Albert LeBlanc and aunt, Florence Francis of Houma, La. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, David Cross

The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023 beginning at 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023 in the funeral home beginning  at 9 a.m until the procession leaves for the church at 12:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lacassine at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
