Larry D “Pete” Petersen, age 79, of Lake Charles, La. passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Pete proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a communication technician until his retirement. Pete loved traveling, camping, bowling, golfing, square dancing, river floating, and snow skiing.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Irene Petersen, and a brother, Randy Petersen.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Judy Petersen; daughter, Bonita Broussard; daughter, Stacie LeJeune; daughter, Denise Dreher; son, Monty Broussard; son, Jeff Petersen( Becky); son, Shawn Petersen; grandchildren, Maura Broussard, Emily Dreher, Natalie Dreher, Claire Dreher, Sophie Dreher, Christina Petersen, and Nate Petersen; brother, Robert Petersen(Sharon); and numerous nieces and nephews.    

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023 at J.E. Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will resume at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22 at the Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023 in the Chapel of Lilys at J.E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home  with Rev. Marvin L Durgan officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery in Lacassine.
