A Louisiana State Police Trooper in Monroe has been placed on leave following an early morning single-vehicle crash on Sunday.

Spokesperson Trooper First Class Ryan Davis said 33-year-old David Hamm of Rayvill was off duty at the time of the crash.

Davis said troopers suspected Hamm was impaired and placed him under arrest.

“He voluntarily submitted to a breath test and was over the legal limit,” Davis said.

Hamm, currently assigned to the commercial vehicle enforcement division in the Monroe area, was booked into the Madison Parish Detention Center and charged with DWI.

He has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation with all law enforcement property recovered by the department.

Hamm has been employed with LSP since 2014, Davis said.
