A Calcasieu Parish student was charged with menacing on Wednesday night.

During the school day on Wednesday, an 11-year old boy who attends Moss Bluff Middle School told another student to not attend class the following day because “he was going to blow up the school,” according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

At 8 p.m. that night, CPSO responded to the threat. After further investigation, CPSO detectives located the student at his residence.

The student was interviewed with a guardian present. After the interview, he was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and was charged with menacing.

On Thursday morning, the Calcasieu Parish School Board released a statement on the district’s Facebook page, stating they were informed of the threat Wednesday night.

“The Calcasieu Parish School Board was made aware of a situation involving potentially threatening behavior towards Moss Bluff Middle School late last night. This situation has been taken very seriously and has been fully investigated by both the Calcasieu Parish School Board and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. An arrest was made by the Sheriff’s Office overnight. The safety of faculty, staff and students will always be our priority.”

Since the beginning of the school year, three juveniles and one adult have been arrested and booked and charged with terrorizing in cases related to events on CPSB campuses.
