Lionel Joseph Talbot

Lionel Joseph Talbot, 90, passed away Tuesday Sept. 26, 2023 in Sulphur, surrounded by his family.
Lionel was a native of Epping, N.H. and a long time resident of Lake Charles. He met the love of his life, Jeanne Eva Rougeau, while dutifully and honorably serving our country in the United States Air Force. After just a short courtship, Lionel and his wife set off on the adventure of life, having served in many countries and states, adding to their growing family with every new duty station. Following his loyal service to the Air Force, he retired as a Master Sergeant. His duty stations included the Korean War, Paris, Morocco, Belgium, Goose Bay Labrador and Guam. He received numerous citations and Commendations during his career, including the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Air and Space Longevity Service Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and many others.
Following his military career, Lionel returned to Southwest Louisiana and farmed with his wife’s family in soybeans and rice in the Gillis area. He was a member of carpenter’s local union 953 and worked until he retired. Lionel was of the Catholic faith.
Preceding Lionel in death are his parents, Henry and Eva Dupere Talbot; five siblings; son-in-law, Dean Guillory and grandson, Jayson Palmer. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 68 years, Jeanne Rougeau Talbot, Lake Charles; daughter, Mary Jacqueline Palmer, Sulphur; sons, Craig Talbot, Tampa, Fla., Robert Talbot and wife Tammy, Walker, La., and James Talbot and wife Tammie, Lake Charles; eight grandchildren, Katie, Danielle, Lauren, Torie, Crystal, Aaron, Darrel and Scott; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Norman Talbot, Epping, N.H.; two sisters, Jeanette Moore, Durham, N.H. and Rita Mikell, Epping, N.H., and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family of the heart.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Saturday Sept. 30, 2023. Services will begin at 2 p.m., with burial, with full military honors, to follow at Consolata Cemetery.
