Oland Paul Doucet

Oland Paul Doucet, born in Indian Bayou, La. on Feb. 25, 1939, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on Sunday Sept. 17, 2023 at the age of 84.
Oland was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He retired in 1985 as a longshoreman at the Port of Lake Charles. Oland enjoyed fixing things, especially for others. It has been said there wasn’t an engine he couldn’t fix He also spent time fishing and listening to cajun music, but the most important time he spent was with his family who adored him. He spent countless hours watching his son and grandsons playing baseball. The hours he spent watching great granddaughter Aubrey participate in her many activities brought him so much joy.
Oland is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gussie Doucet, son Barry Doucet (Melody), Grandsons; Heath Doucet (Sarah) and Hayden Doucet (Haley), great granddaughters; Aubry and Lucy Doucet, several nieces and nephews. Special nephew Terry Navarre (Kari) and his best bud Donald Benoit (DeDe).
He is preceded in death by his parents; Octave and Anaise Doucet and seven siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday Sept. 20, 2023 at 7 p.m. in Hixson Funeral Homes Chapel of the Lillie’s, 3001 Ryan St. Lake Charles La. 70601. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rev. Richard Louviere will officiate. Inurnment will be held in Consolata Cemetery at a later date.
