Bonnie Beatrice David Porter, 98, of Lake Charles, La. passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Ms. Porter was born on September 28, 1924, in Elton, La. and was a graduate of SLI.

She was a schoolteacher for 31 years in the Calcasieu school system, where she loved to help children further their education. She was well traveled, well read, loved her garden, and worked crossword puzzles. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Byron Bernard and Cathy David of Baton Rouge, La.; nieces and nephews, Rusty and Tressie Fluitt, Garrique Dejean, Lise Dejean Richard. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children; Bert Bernard David, Sr., second husband, Rudy Porter; and son; Bert Bernard David Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. A Memorial service will be at 2 p.m.on Monday, officiated by Deacon Tony Pousson. A private interment will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Elton, La.  Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
