Jacquelyn “Jackie” Anne Farrar

Jacquelyn Anne “Jackie” Farrar, 92, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in a local care center.
She was a native of Opelousas and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1954. She graduated from the University of Southwest Louisiana and then received her Masters +30 from McNeese State University. Jackie worked as a teacher for many years before working at the school board office until her retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Preceptor Eta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, the Sulphur Garden Club, a former member of Krewe de la Famille, and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters Court Our Lady of the Snows. She was a Master Gardener and enjoyed sewing, quilting, fishing, and traveling. Jackie was a very involved grandmother who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Maureen Armentor and husband, Jeff of Lake Charles and Kathleen Nichols and husband, Terry of Merryville; nine grandchildren, Craig Nichols, Bryan Nichols, Jana Pearson, Kelly McLean, Erin Armentor, Grant Armentor, Michael Farrar, Steven Farrar, and Ariana Lee; and six great-grandchildren, Calla, Cora, Grayson, Hayes, and Aubrey Nichols, and Sage Passant. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lewis Farrar; and her children, Anne Farrar and Will Farrar.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 28, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Timothy Goodly will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass in the church. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
