The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of disturbed weather that is expected to move into the western Caribbean over the next couple of days before moving north into the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

Donald Jones, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office, said the disturbance has a 40 percent chance of development into a tropical cyclone over the next seven days.
