Judith Stephens Diakos

Judith Stephens Diakos, 80, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 in a local hospice.
She was a native of the Alexandria area and had been a longtime resident of Sulphur. She was a 1961 graduate of Sulphur High School. Judith worked as a payroll clerk with the Calcasieu Parish School Board for 28 years until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling and shopping, and was an excellent cook.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Paul C. Diakos, Sr. of Sulphur; her children, Debbie Hartzo and husband, Tony of Huntsville, Texas, Vicki Martin and husband, Warren of Willis, Texas, Paul C. Diakos, Jr. and wife, Julie of Jacksonville, Fla., and Adriane Ayres of The Woodlands, Texas; her brother, Danny Stephens and wife, Gail of Hot Springs, Ark.; thirteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Andrew A. Stephens and Laura Esslee Stephens Welch; her step-father, Rowlf Welch, Sr.; and her brother, Wayne Andrew Stephens.
A Celebration of Judith’s Life will be held at noon Monday, August 28 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Hixson Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service Monday in the funeral home.
