A St. Martinsville man is facing charges after he was found chasing a tractor in a field Monday near Elton in Jeff Davis Parish.

Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chris Ivey said Emery Jules Richard, 35, was arrested with criminal trespass and possession of a controlled dangerous substance after he was found to be in possession of Fentanyl.

Deputies were dispatched to the area of Elton Drive near Tupper Road and Buckling Road, near Elton in reference to a suspicious person chasing a tractor on foot in a field, Ivey said.

A reserve deputy responded and detained Richard.

The property owner told deputies that Richard was not authorized to be on the property and was in danger chasing a tractor around the field.
