Robert Joseph Guidry, Jr, 64, of DeQuincy passed away unexpectantly on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. And was immediately welcomed into the Arms of Jesus. Robert was born August 28, 1958, in Lake Charles to Robert Joseph Guidry Sr and Rowena Guidry.  Robert was a lifelong resident of Louisiana and worked as a Pipeline Equipment Operator out of Local 406. He then spent many years in Lake Charles & Baton Rouge at Sales & Sales Manager for Automotive Dealerships. He Retired in August of 2022. When he moved back to Lake Charles. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his sister; Glenda Goodwin and (Husband Johnny), Nieces; Charissa Dalton, Deedra Laymance, Wendy Woods, Nephew; Samuel Van Ness III., Great Nephews; Tyler Dalton, Nicholas Dalton, Jacob Dalton, Beau Corbello, Great-Great nieces Arya & Athena Dalton and Great-Great Nephew Ethan Dalton.  x-wife; Shelly Guidry, Stepdaughter; Tashia Hebert, Step Grandchildren; Braden Hebert, Brooklyn Hebert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mother, Rowena Guidry and Father, Robert Guidry Sr. one Brother; Samuel Van Nes 11, Stepmom; Mary Guidry and Stepson; Bliss Trahan. 

Visitation for Immediate Family will be at 9:00AM and Public at 10:00AM until 1:00PM, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home Moss Bluff, 2171 US-171, Lake Charles, LA. 70611.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM also at Johnson Funeral Home Moss Bluff.  Burial will follow the funeral at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles. 

To know Robert was to Love Him. Upon retiring he loved being able to reconnect with his immediate, family and was a priority to him, and such a Valuable Gift to us. He touched many lives with his selflessness and generosity. He had such a Great Sense of Humor. He was a gentleman who showed love to those around him; authentic love, and all these traits were what made him an amazing brother, uncle, and friend. He was dearly Loved and will dearly be missed by those whose lives he was a part of. He was a God-Fearing person who would help anyone without ever being asked to do so. He was a true picture of selflessness.  Robert accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior way back in the 1980’s and upon moving back to Lake Charles became a member of First Moss Bluff. He attended with his sister, Glenda Goodwin and his brother-in-Law, Johnny Goodwin. Robert loved to Worship the Lord. We would have to leave him 2 seats so he could express his Worship in a large way. My Brother and I had this in common. He so loved soaking up the wisdom of his brother-in-law, Johnny Goodwin and respected him so much. They learned great traits from one another. 

Robert, upon retirement was able to pursue his hobbies, such as Golf with his Nephew’s Tyler & Nicholas Dalton. Helping each other to perfect their game. If he was not Golfing, he was a Huge LSU, Saints Fan. His love for sports was a for his whole lifetime and unmatched except for his sister, Glenda Goodwin, as they got to enjoy and celebrate together after all these years. A very special moment for me was a once in a lifetime event with LSU winning the World National Championship this year. He was an awesome Pitcher in his younger days In School. I still have newspaper clippings of his shut-out games. He also was a Boxer like his father, Robert Guidry Sr.  

He Loved his long talks with his niece, Charissa Dalton, her uncle Robert was a sweet spot in her heart. They talked for endless hours about their favorite memories made together, sharing family history, late night conversations about life circumstances and spent time dancing because everyone knew he loved dancing and teaching other to as well. Let’s just face it – no one was a better dancer than Robert Guidry Jr, except for his parents. He got it honestly.
