Six Allen Parish police jurors will face challenges in the Oct. 14 elections, while two police jurors face no opposition in the election.

Sheriff Doug Hebert III and Clerk of Court Stacey Hurst were also re-elected without opposition.

Lewis Williams will serve as the new assessor after no one qualified to run against him to fill the seat currently held by Assessor Richard Earl, who did not seek re-election.

District 32 State Representative Dewitt Carrier and District 28 State Senator Heather Cloud also had no opposition.

Patrick Savoy was elected outright as the new parish coroner after “Don” Nesom did not seek re-election.

In Police Jury District 1, incumbent Ruffin George will face a challenge from opponents David E. Allison and Charles Gosey to retain his seat.

In District 3,Adam Hussong and Ervin Willis will vie for the seat vacated by longtime Police Juror John Strother Jr., who did not see seek re-election.

Three candidates are vying for the District 4 seat after incumbent Creig Vizena did not seek re-election. Those vying for the seat are Glen Jeffrey Bruce, Robert Neil Cole and Joe Perkins.

Incumbent Tony Hebert will have opposition from Leonard Duplechain for the District 5 seat.

In District 7, incumbent Police Juror Chad Sanders is also facing a challenge from Leonard Pitre.

Two candidates are seeking a position for the newly created District 8 seat. Candidates Jesse Gonzales and Roland Hollins want to serve the district, which was added following reapportionment of the voting districts based on population.

District 2 Police Juror Heath Ardoin and District 6 Police Jury Allen Courville won’t be facing challenges.

Janice D. Simon is facing no opposition to fill the District 4 seat on the Oberlin council.

Paige Hoffpauir, Stacey Melerine and Emma Shepard are seeking the District 4 spot on the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. They seek to fill the position held by Michael Melerine, who did not seek re-election to the board.

District 32 State Representative Dewitt Carrier was re-elected without opposition along with District 28 State Senator Heather Cloud.

The Oct. 14 ballot will also include statewide elections for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general, treasure, agriculture commissioner and insurance commissioner.
