Billy Charles Waters

Billy Charles Waters, 78, of Sulphur, La. passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. He was born to his late parents, Sidney Waters and Lottie Ham on August 21, 1944 in Natchitoches, La. Billy was an active member of the First Pentecostal Church of Sulphur for over 35 years. He was known to the community as “Tar Baby” of “Tar Baby Tires”, which he owned for 12 years and eventually retired. Billy was known for his generous ways and willingness to help the community. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and being “Mr. Fix It”, while also known for his jokes and stories. 

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 42 years, Robin Waters; children, Anita Moss (Darrell George) of Wynnewood, Okla., Delain Waters (Misti) of Topsy, La., Regina Waters-Rester (Sherrill) of Starks, La., Joshua Waters (Erica) of Carlyss, La., Aaron Waters (Wendie) of Vinton, La., Timothy Waters of Sulphur, La., Kayla Rutherford (Spencer) of Vidor, Texas, Billy Waters, Jr. (Alicia) of Carlyss, La., and Tammie Purcell of Orange, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 on the way.    

A Celebration of Billy’s life will be held at First Pentecostal Church of Sulphur on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Harlan Morgan officiating. Visitation will be at First Pentecostal Church of Sulphur on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday, from 8:30 a.m., until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly, La.
