Ojust Clement

Ojust Clement, 89, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 in a local hospital.
He was a native of Creole and had been a resident of Vinton for over 60 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Ojust worked most of his life in shipyards. He loved to cook and always cooked a big old fashioned meal every other day to feed anyone who was hungry.
Survivors include his children, David Clement of Grand Lake, Vicki Doucet of Vinton, Kenneth Kellum, Sr. and wife, Roxanne of Hackberry, Carnelia Courville and husband, Howard of Loreauville, Margie Walter of Vinton, Ernest Meaux, Jr. of Vinton, and Jerry Meaux of Vinton; 22 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years, Regina Pearl Clement; his second wife of 46 years, Martha Rea Clement; his parents, Vian and Euphelia Clement; his son, John Dean Clement; his siblings, Yvonne Venable, Jim Clement, and John Clobul “PeeWee” Clement; and grandson, Jason Gregory Meaux.
A Celebration of Ojust’s Life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton led by Hixson’s celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly.
