Two candidates vying for Cameron sheriff

Michael “Mike” Hebert and “Chris” Savoie, both of Grand Lake, are the two candidates trying to replace Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson, who is not seeking re-election. Hebert and Savoie are Republicans.
Cameron voters will also have the statewide officials on their Oct. 14 ballots. Their Rep. Ryan Bourriaque of Grand Lake was re-elected without opposition. However, they will vote in the Senate District 25 contest and the state Board of Elementary and Secondary (BESE) District 7 race.
Republican Sen. Mark Abraham of Lake Charles has one opponent in the Oct. 14 primary — Democrat Joshua “Josh” Lewis of Lake Charles.
Dr. Holly Boffy of Vermilion Parish, the current president of BESE, is not seeking re-election. The three District 7 candidates, all Republicans, are Cathy S. Banks of Lake Charles, Kevin M. Berken of Jennings, and Erick Knezek of Lafayette.
Three Cameron Parish officials have been re-elected without opposition. They are Clerk of Court Susan Racca of Grand Lake, Assessor Howard Scott Lavergne of Grand Lake, and Coroner Kevin Charles Dupke of Creole. Lavergne is a No Party candidate. Racca and Dupke are Republicans.
Magnus “Sonny” McGee, No Party-Johnson Bayou, of Police Jury District 1 was re-elected without opposition.
Republicans Michael Fewell and Curtis R. Fountain Sr., both of Hackberry, are seeking the District 2 seat. Fountain is the incumbent.
Three candidates from Grand Lake are seeking the District 3 seat. They are Samuel “Sam” Bordelon, Darryl Farque and McKinley Wayne “Butch” Guidry. Bordelon is a Republican. The other two are independents. Guidry is an incumbent.
Six candidates are seeking the two seats in District 4. They are Haley Alleman of Grand Lake, Joseph “Joe” Dupont of Grand Lake, Danny Myers of Grand Lake, Kirk Quinn of Grand Lake, John “Johnny” Watson of Klondike, and Wendell Wilkerson of Grand Lake.
Dupont and Quinn both serve on the Police Jury in districts that have been redrawn. Alleman is an independent. The others are Republicans.
Mark Daigle of Cameron, Earnestine “Tina” Horn of Creole, and Scott Trahan of Creole are seeking the District 5 seat. Trahan is the incumbent. Horn is an independent and the other two are Republicans.
Lawrence “Lee” Faulk Jr., an independent, and Ronald Nunez Jr., a Republican, are both from Grand Lake, and are seeking the District 6 seat. Faulk is the incumbent.
Byron Gibbs of Hackberry was unopposed as Constable Justice of the Peace of Ward 6.
