Allen Parish: Upcoming road closure could delay emergency services

U.S. 190 near milepost 69, just east of the Calcasieu River Bridge, will be closed to vehicle traffic for emergency repairs beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, July 31, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
The bridge closure is necessary following a recent load rating analysis indicating structurally deficient piles which forced the capacity of the bridge to be reduced to 10-15 tons.
Motorists are advised to detour using U.S, 165, Interstate 10 and U.S. 171.
The Allen Parish Ambulance Service is reminding residents that the east side of LeBlanc and Reeves may experience longer response times for emergency services during the closure.
Allen Parish Ambulance will staff an ambulance in the Reeves community and has reached out to other emergency services to assist during the road closure.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Crews will work daily until the repairs are completed, weather permitting.
