Lurline Ruth Duplechain

Lurline Ruth Duplechain, age 92, of League City, Texas, formerly of Lake Charles, Louisiana, entered into Eternal Life on Friday, June 23, 2023. Lurline was born on November 4, 1930 in Lake Charles, La. to Anthony Rodrigue and Vivian Guillory.  

 Lurline was a graduate of LaGrange High School and attended McNeese University and Delta Business School. Lurline worked at Rodrigue’s Barber Shop as the Receptionist and Bookkeeper for many years. 

Lurline was highly devoted to her family and her church. When her children were young, she was President of the PTA and a Campfire Girls and Cub Scout Leader. She was a member of University Methodist Church and later at St. Luke-Simpson Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher, President of United Methodist Women, and completed the seven-year study of God’s word and served seven years as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship.

Lurline was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Coy Russell Duplechain, her parents, Anthony and Vivian Rodrigue, brothers, Bert and Jerry Rodrigue, and a sister, Shirley Micelle. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debra Thompson (Phil) of League City, Texas; son, Russell Duplechain (Betsy) of Kingwood, Texas; son, Dr. Randall Duplechain (Patty) of DeRidder, La.; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday, July 14, 2023 at J.E. Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at J.E. Hixson Funeral Home with Rev. Nelson Santa Ana officiating. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery, Lake Charles.
