An illegal immigrant doing construction work in Jennings has been charged with sexual assault.

Ever Mazariegos-Mendoza, 38, is charged with misdemeanor sexual battery and second-degree sexual battery.

Jennings Police Chief Danny Semmes said Mazariegos-Mendoza was arrested Tuesday after a victim came forward with a complaint that a contract who was working at her residence had allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Mazariegos-Mendoza confessed to the incident after being brought in for questioning by police, Semmes said.

He is being held without bond in the Jeff Davis Parish Jail.
