Frank Emerson Fuller, 87, formerly of Vinton, La. passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 from the comfort of his son’s home.
Mr. Fuller was a native of Belize City, Belize. Shortly following his high school graduation, at the age of 19, he made his move to the states and chose Lake Charles to be his home where he lived most of his life. He was truly an exceptionally talented, well trained and conditioned athlete beyond his midlife years. His passions were soccer, handball and running. During his younger years he enjoyed boxing with his Uncle Eckerd, “the best boxer in Belize”. He enjoyed playing soccer, countless hours at the YMCA and the Roman Health Spa playing handball and was a runner most of his life. He shared his love for running with his sons throughout their educational years and trained with Ricky for competitions for many years following. He later accompanied Ricky to the Olympics in Mr. Fuller’s home country, Belize. He trained with his son René as well, as a triathlete for competition triathlons and was a proud member of “The Clydesdales” triathletes. He worked as an Electrician for the IEBW Local 108 and Sonnier Electric where he retired at the age of 62. He was a skilled craftsman, a builder of many things, his son’s shop show floor was his most memorable project. His downtime was most often spent at Delta Down’s cheering on his favorite contender or dancing to his favorite band, Louisiana Awesome Express. Mr. Fuller will be remembered for his love of his family. He worked hard and provided well to ensure his children had a welcoming home. He was always there to follow and support their interests and took them along to events for adventure. It was most important that his children knew he would always be there to help them with whatever they may need, never expecting anything in return. He will be forever loved and greatly missed.
He leaves to honor his memory, three sons, Patrick Alan “Ricky” Fuller of Lake Charles, Victor René Fuller of Lafayette and Franklin Berlin (Christine) of Ragley; one daughter, Patricia Berlin Fournerat of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Brian Fournerat, Lane Fournerat (Krista), Lindsey Fournerat Fontenot (Brett) and Chelsey Berlin Brown (Scott); five great-grandchildren, Amelia, Jacques and Becket Fournerat and Daniel and Max Miller; two sisters, Carol and Sandra Fuller and his dearest uncle, Eckerd Fuller of Belize.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gilley Fuller; son, Anthony Charles Fuller; son-in-law, Daniel G. Fournerat; parents and a sister.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023 in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Deacon Tony Pousson will officiate. Interment services will follow in Big Woods Cemetery.
