Robert Hathaway Ward, affectionately known as Bob, passed away on June 15, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and remarkable accomplishments. Born on Aug. 4, 1937, in the vibrant city of St. Louis, Mo., Bob was the cherished son of Nathaniel Bonby Ward and Florence Ann Ward.

Bob’s life was forever changed when he met the love of his life, Dolores Ann Ward, with whom he shared a beautiful journey for over six decades. They united in marriage on Nov. 24, 1962, at Good Shepherd in Lake Charles, La., promising to stand by each other’s side through thick and thin. Bob actively participated in the church as an usher and greeter. He enjoyed helping the needy through “Tend My Lambs” and serving his congregation from behind the griddle at many a men’s breakfast.

Professionally, Bob had a successful career in the chemical industry as a mechanical engineer. He dedicated many years of service to Olin Cooperations, where he traveled internationally and frequented China often enough to be called “China Bob”. In 2001, he ventured out to establish his own consulting business, where his expertise was incredibly valued and led to many innovations in the field. Bob’s unwavering commitment to his craft continued until his retirement at the age of 75.
