Woman accused of choking passenger inside vehicle

A Jennings woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly choking a person during a fight inside a vehicle.
Ashley Shay Benoit, 31, was arrested by the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of battery of a dating partner and resisting an officer.
Benoit was arrested after deputies responded to East Gallagher Road, just northeast of Jennings, after receiving a complaint of a fight occurring inside a vehicle, according to Commander Ramby Cormier.
An investigation revealed that Benoit reportedly choked the victim, Cormier said.

Benoit resisted as she was being arrested.
Bond for Benoit was set at $5.000.
