Red, White, Blue and You fireworks to light up night sky

The city of Lake Charles will be celebrating its 31st annual Red, White, Blue and You Fourth of July event next Tuesday.

With picnic blankets and lawn chairs in tow, celebrators will be able to enjoy live music and a colorful, patriotic fireworks display.

Festivities are held at the Lake Charles Civic Center and are set to begin at 6 p.m.

The Lake Charles Community Band’s Bayou Big Band will take the stage of the Arcade Amphitheater at 6 p.m. Rusty Metoyer & the Zydeco Krush will follow them at 7:30 p.m.

Lake Area Adventures, the local family entertainment center that opened this spring, will be adding a fresh touch to Red, White, Blue and You. They will be offering Lakefront Events on North Beach, which includes Tug-of-War and Kayak Rentals.

In Tug-of-War, teams will compete for a $250 grand prize.

Anyone interested in forming a team for Tug-of-War should contact Lake Area Adventures by emailing sarge@laastaff.com. Team registration is $20.

At 9:15 p.m., the lakefront sky will be lit up with fireworks. The show will be choreographed to music, which will be played on speakers. Those that are viewing the show from a distance, or simply wish for a closer listening experience, can tune into KBYS McNeese Radio 88.3 in their cars or on their devices.
