Marlene Faye Brame Creasy, 90 of The Woodlands, Texas passed away on June 23, 2023 at 12:10 PM in a Woodlands, Texas care center.

Mrs. Creasy was born on November 3, 1932 in Oakdale, La.  She was a graduate of Oakdale High School and furthered her education at SLI (Southwest LA Institute-now ULL).  She resigned her senior year to marry Ben Robert Creasy and relocated to Washington State, where Ben was stationed during the Korean Conflict.  Her time as a young bride with the “GI’s” was a high point in her life-so much so, that Ben spoke of her time with “Her Army buddies.”  Mrs. Creasy moved to Lake Charles in 1955 before moving to The Woodlands two months ago to be with her family.

In keeping with her business studies background, she worked as a medical office manager.  Although working outside of the home, she sewed, quilted, and did various handwork, always carving out time for reading.

She loved all children and served for many years in the Children’s Division at First Baptist Church of Lake Charles.

Small in stature-standing less than 5 feet tall-she cast a large shadow.  Not at all retiring, Marlene loved to organize.  She was capable of knowing and interpreting rules (a holdover from her days in student government) and served on The Trails Community Association Board.  Marlene organized bereavement meals for church families.  She participated in Precept Bible Studies where her exacting nature was readily apparent.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Soileau Brame and Otto Clifton Brame; spouse, Ben Robert Creasy; and a sister, Fabia Brame Park.

Those left to cherish her memory are son, Cliff Creasy (Sheri) of The Woodlands, Texas; granddaughter, Caitlin Creasy of Houston; and a niece, Tracey Park Gunderson of Lafayette and Bay St. Louis.

The family wishes to thank Marlene’s college friend, Carole Hardeman, who kept their memories of fun forever vibrant.  The family is forever indebted to her First Baptist Church family whose tangible gifts of food, transportation, and socialization allowed Marlene to live independently for over 90 years.  They have put in action Jesus’ words, “In as much as you have done it to the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.”

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  The Rev. Johnny Dammon will officiate.  Family will begin to receive friends at 9 a.m. until the start of the service.  Due to excessive heat, there will be no graveside service.  Immediately following the funeral, family will be celebrating Marlene’s life with a reception held in the Fellowship Hall of University Baptist Church, 4505 Lake St.
