Tara Jon Hannie Holcombe was born in Lake Charles, La. to Dr. George and Becky Hannie Sr. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School and attended McNeese State University.
Dec. 23, 1989, Tara married her husband of 33 years, David W. Holcombe. Tara worked for DXP for 44 years. She celebrated every employees’ birthdays. She valued relationship and good morale in the workplace. Tara had special moments with each and every family members; so they would feel loved and treasured. She sent them cards and called on every birthday. She brought her special passion for life and personal flair to liven up any situation. She was passionate in her care of animals. She spoke almost every day with her sisters. Tara’s faith in her Lord and Savior carried her through to the end.
When Lake Charles pastors started the church Preparing The Way Ministries, she was not able to attend due to distance. She began a ministry of helps after hearing about an illness of a church member. She sent personalized cards of encouragement and support on behalf of the church at her own expense. Her heart was so big, and full of love. She was one of the most beautiful, giving, thoughtful, loving souls to ever walk this planet and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; also, brothers, Joe and George Hannie; sister, Liz McCann; brother-in-law, Dr Pat Crawford; and her niece, Misty Carroll Davis.
She is survived by her husband David Holcombe of 33 years, his daughter and her children; her siblings, Becky Jo (Frank) Bussey, Charmayne (Pat) Crawford, Gena (Doyle) Evans, Amanda (George) Hannie, and Fredrick (Marie) Hannie Sr. as well as many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration will be held at Houston National Cemetery on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
