Jennings man faces multiple drugs, weapons charges

A search warrant has led to the arrest of a Jennings man on multiple drug and weapon charges.

Stormey Markell Batiste, 27, was arrested Friday by the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Louisiana State Police following a search of a residence located at 1306 West Street in Jennings.

No bond has been set.

During a search of the residence, authorities located two pounds and 14 ounces of suspected marijuana, a digital scale, plastic bags used for the packaging and the sell of illegal narcotics.

Authorities also found Batiste sleeping with three firearms – an AM-15 rifle, Glock 42.380 and a block 48 9 mm caliber handgun, which was reported stolen from Welsh.

Batiste is facing charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a stolen firearm.

Batiste has previously arrested in 2015 for possession of schedule I narcotics.
