There is an increasing threat for severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening with damaging winds and large hail possible.

The National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office said the entire region could be effected, particularly the area north of Interstate 10.

Lake Charles, Fort Polk, Oberlin and Cameron all have a 30 percent chance of receiving damaging wind gusts and hail one inch in diameter or larger.

Less than one inch of rain, however, is expected with mainly nuisance flooding possible.
