A Sulphur man has been arrested in multiple vehicle burglaries reported in the Sterlington Place Subdivision in Carlyss.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said multiple firearms were reported stolen during the early morning burglaries.

She said detectives reviewed video surveillance and after utilizing numerous law enforcement investigative resources were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle, a Cadillac SUV, as well as the registered owner of the vehicle. While executing a search warrant at the registered owner’s residence, detectives made contact with the occupants inside the home and learned Shawn R. Slusher, 46, Sulphur, was in possession of the SUV during the time the burglaries occurred.

After detectives spoke with Slusher, he was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is charged with four counts of simple burglary; three counts of theft of a firearm; theft less than $1,000; and possession of CDS II, which was located on his person.

Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $97,500.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are possible.
