Thomas “Tommy” Lee Taveney, age 82, of Lake Charles, La. passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at his residence shared with his loving wife Sandra Taveney.

The passing of Tommy leaves a void in his family and friends’ lives, he will greatly be missed.

Tommy made a great life by working in the Louisiana Oil Fields which gave him the opportunity to retire early and devote his retirement years to his family and friends. He always had time to lend a helping hand to family and friends.

Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Taveney and Jeanette Brannen Manuel (Felman); his son, Stephen Berry Taveney (former wife Kathy Douglass Taveney).

Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Fisher Miguez Taveney; children, Thomas Dwayne Taveney (Kelli) of Silsbee, Texas; Rhonda T. Reed (Glenn) of Iowa, La.; former wife, Bonnie Stanton Marcantel; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua, Tristin, Jasmine, Rebecca, Dustin, Tyler, and Alexis; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Jeannie Smith (Mike); and nephew, James David Miguez (Sean) and their son, David Sean Miguez.

The family will welcome the public for visitation at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home Chapel of Peace, Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Lake Charles, La.
