James “Jim” Stanley Pruden

James Stanley “Jim” Pruden, 78, of Lake Charles, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023, in his home. Born on Aug. 23, 1944, in Greenville, Miss., James was the son of the late James Ollie Pruden and Grace Andrews Pruden.
He also lived twenty years in San Diego, Calif., during which time he worked for LaSalle Trucking Company, retiring as Warehouse Manager. He later returned to Lake Charles where he lived for the remainder of his life.
A man of few words, Mr. Pruden was considered “the silent type,” but his actions spoke louder than words. He took pride in providing well for his family, as well as, utilizing his gift as a handy man and ability to “fix anything” as a helping hand to help others.
His passion was designing and building performance boats. His most famous creation, “The Judge,” remains a testament to his talent.
Mr. Pruden was an avid sports fan, loved watching Nascar while cheering on Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed cheering and/or fussing the New Orleans Saints football team and the San Diego Padres baseball team.
He is survived by his two stepdaughters, Annette Michelle “Mickey” Mancuso (Tony) and Deborah Kay Nini; brother, Steve Pruden (Shelia) and sister, Carol Phillips (Billy). He also leaves his neighbor and dear friend, Noemia Hooper.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Christine Marie Clifton Pruden; parents; brother, Robert Pruden and sister, Diane Phillips.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023, in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff. Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. Interment services will follow at the New Ritchie Cemetery, II.
