Jan. 10, 1932 – April 22, 2023

Clara Smith, 91, of Lake Charles, La., passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at a care facility in Gainesville, Fla. 

Clara was born on Jan.  10, 1932, in Lafayette, La., and was a resident of Lake Charles, La., for 58 Years.  She was a member of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and always dedicated to the Church and her family.

Clara is survived by daughters, Mellanie Pflum, Andrea Bryant and husband Bruce, Katrina Kersch and husband Steve; son, James R Smith and wife Colleen; and goddaughter, Charlotte Carnahan; grandchildren,  Jennifer Kennedy, Melissa Clanton and husband Steve, Dustin Shirley and Wife Misty, Grant Shirley and wife Lisa, and James Nicholas Smith; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Emily, Makenzie, Cooper, Hudson and Eli. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, James Smith; her parents, Helena and George Stutes; her three sisters, Belle Molbert, Danna Landry, Beverly Chaddick; as well as son-in-law, Julius Pflum.

Her memorial Mass will be held on May 12, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Lake Charles, La.
