Leon Joseph Dautriel Sr.

Leon Joseph Dautriel Sr. of Westlake, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in his residence.
Leon was born in Sulphur, on Jan. 5, 1941. He was a graduate of USMC, after graduation he served as a chef in the Marine Corps. He was a member of Saint John Bosco Church and Knights of Columbus. Leon was a plumber and co-owner for Dautriel Plumbing and worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board. He loved to go hunting and fishing with the jigs he made. When he wasn’t in the woods or on the water, he loved being in his garden, taking care of it and sharing the fruits of his labor. Leon loved having his grandchildren and great-grandchildren work in the garden with him and teaching them how to tend to it for a bountiful harvest. Sitting on the porch listening to and telling stories with friends and family were very important to Leon. Occasionally made trips to the casino for a visit.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Elaine Dautriel; children, Deanie Dautriel, Rose Pekol and husband Tom, Leon “E-Boo” Dautriel Jr., Paul Dautriel and wife Angie; stepchildren, Debbie Winfree and husband Danny, Roger Spalding and Richard Paulk; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Earline Ann Hennigan, Ned Louis Dautriel and wife Sheryl, L.J. Dautriel Jr. and wife Rita, John Dautriel and wife Pam; sister-in-law, Kristin Dautriel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Joseph Dautriel Sr. and Ironie Marie Dautriel; sister, Jeanette Jessen; brother, Michael Dautriel; daughter, Katherine Spalding; grandchildren, Michael Dautriel and Ashley Dautriel; daughter-in-law, Susan Dautriel; mother-in-law, Gloria Elaine Brown.
Funeral service for Leon Joseph Dautriel Sr. will at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Saint John Bosco Church in Westlake, La. Burial will follow at Westlake Memorial. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2023, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur, La.
