Calcasieu Public Transit buses resume ‘extremely limited’ services

Calcasieu Parish Public Transit buses have resumed service on an extremely limited basis. Two buses are operating after the entire fleet was disabled by catalytic converter theft over the weekend.

Transit officials expect more buses to be operational each day this week and for operations to be completely restored to normal early next week.

Transit staff are assisting with scheduling services and alternate transportation options.

The issues do not impact municipal transit.

Sponsored by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and the Department of Transportation and Development, the program offers curbside transportation service – for all parish residents in both rural and urban areas – for such purposes as healthcare appointments, shopping trips, employment, classes and educational opportunities.
